Eligibility and Criteria

The COVID-19 pandemic has put unprecedented pressure on those at the frontlines. Shaking off fear of being exposed to possible risks of infection, they go to work every day knowing that they risk their health and lives to protect ours. COVID-19 frontliners work long hours and often go beyond the call of duty to keep Ugandans safe. The challenges they face are immense. The impact on their loved ones is significant.

By spotlighting frontline responders, we acknowledge the dedication of the workers who provide essential and critical services to protect the lives of others during the pandemic.

The COVID-19 Responders Award recognises frontline workers for their humanitarian service to the nation during the pandemic. This year, the recognition goes not to an individual but to all the selfless workers and volunteers in healthcare, security and other areas who stepped forward in the past year. These frontline heroes include Ministry of Health staff, medical personnel, military and paramilitary personnel, bankers, ambulance drivers, COVID-19 task forces, traders, transport providers, food distributors, teachers, researchers, cleaners, health facilities and hospitals, leaders, innovators as well as other persons who would have made a direct contribution to the COVID-19 response. Submit the stories of your unsung heroes and heroines.
