Eligibility and Criteria
This award recognizes those paving the way for long-term, stable health funding solutions in Uganda. The Sustainable Health Financing Champion is someone or an institution who has reimagined how healthcare is funded—whether through community-based insurance schemes, cost-effective planning, advocacy, or investment strategies—ensuring health systems remain strong even when donor priorities shift.
Who is eligible:
- Health economists, financial innovators, policymakers, insurers, NGOs, banks, microfinance entities, SACCOs, or institutions that have successfully implemented or advocated for sustainable financing models.
What nominators should consider:
- Demonstrated innovation in financing solutions that reduce dependence on external donors.
- Impact on affordability and equitable access to essential services for vulnerable populations.
- Evidence of scalability and adoption of financing models across communities or systems.
- Leadership in influencing policy or practice around health financing.
